Super Powers- is what the latest wave of social media + technology is giving us. Think about it, seriously. By using a service like vLingo I can update my status on Twitter & Facebook by simply talking to my phone, then instantly the entire internet can see what I just said in text form- not a far stretch from the telepathy that super heros in comics and movies employ.
Then all of the conversations in the Twittersphere or the Blogosphere can be analyzed by various aggregators like TweetVolume and feed readers to create mashup word clouds like Wordle that show visually what people are talking about. Or like the New York Times did during the Super Bowl with this interactive map of what Twitter was saying during the Superbowl.
This is not far from the sentient-all-knowing mind of "The Oracle" in the movie The Matrix. I can only imagine once this activity is more developed and more widely adopted by the greater human population wouldn't we in essence be reading each others minds like the X-Men character Jean Grey does with her telepathic powers? If all my neighbors in my apartment building are attaching Twitpics to their Tweets or streaming video with their web cams isn't this pretty close to X-Ray vision? The future is here. The future is awesome!!!
